SOEHARTO, INDONESIAN FORMER PRESIDENT PASSED AWAY

 

The   Embassy   of   the   Republic   in  Buenos  Aires  would    like  to inform  that   the former  Indonesian   President,   H.E. General   Haji   Muhammad   Soeharto (86), passed away   on   Sunday,    27    January    2008   at   13.10    suffering   multiple  organ failure    after      two   weeks   intensive   medical   treatment   at   the        Pertamina  Hospital in   South   Jakarta. The remains of  H.E. General Haji Muhammad Soeharto  were buried on Monday, 28 January 2008, in Solo, Central Java.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono declared a week of national mourning starting Sunday, 27 January 2008 to mark the death of the Indonesian former leader, who ruled the country from 1966-1998. The national flag will be hoisted  at half-mast across Indonesia and at the Indonesian Embassies abroad.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Buenos Aires has opened a condolence book for three days on 28-30 January 2008 at 09.00-13.00 and 14.30-16.30, granting the opportunity  for the Indonesian and international community to extend their condolences on the death of former President Soeharto.
